Our Educational Program
Building core skills for success
Niños del Lago (NdL) works with local schools, teachers, and parents to reach the children most in need. The NdL Educational Program supports students in core subjects, focusing on math, reading, and writing. The goal is to encourage students to gain a better understanding of essential subjects and to become enthusiastic about learning, and staying in school. Our teachers, mentors and social workers are specially trained to give children the guidance they require to succeed.
Our Health Program
Nutritious meals and essential medical care
Part of the NdL mission is to teach children the importance
of health, focusing on three core components: medical check-ups and care, proper nutrition, and improved hygiene. We offer workshops to instruct children about good hygiene, preventative care, as well as healthy cooking and meal preparation. Our programs engage children in health-related topics in a fun way that makes learning more engaging. We schedule preventative health screenings and bring in local medical experts on a regular basis.
Our Personal Development Program
Fostering confidence, wellbeing, and social responsibility
Empathy and community responsibility is central to all our programs. However, our Personal Development Program is specifically designed to support students’ social and emotional skills and expression. The program also fosters children's sense of belonging and social responsibility to their communities. Through individual and group activities, children learn to manage their emotions in a balanced and healthy way. They start to develop empathy for others while learning how their actions can have a positive impact on their own wellbeing, as well as those around them.
Our mission
The mission of Ninos del Lago is to support vulnerable children in Guatemala through education, health, and personal development—empowering them to stay in school, succeed academically, and grow into agents of change in their communities.
