Internship - Development Support Intern
Help lay a foundation for the youth leaders of tomorrow in Guatemala.
Niños del Lago is seeking a creative, competent, well-organized, self-directing but team-playing intern for 3 – 6 months, available immediately for the right candidate.
Apply your creative energies, fluency in Spanish and research skills while soaking up the rich cultural environment in Panajachel. Your work will help to launch an innovative youth program that will eventually reach across 15+ Departments in Guatemala.
The ideal candidate will bring an interest in youth development or camp programs; skills and experience in basic admin support; on-line research coupled with creative writing skills; solid computer skills; and experience in partnership-building activities. The role requires advanced Spanish and basic to intermediate English (written and spoken).
We are growing as an organization and need help to move forward in some very specific areas. While unpaid, our internship opportunities are designed to allow you to put your education, skills and experience into practice.
Your principle focus will be in support of our Development Committee and related teams where you will assist with the investigation research and documentation for our Mentor Program partnership (involving Guatemala and International Partners); and you will have a lead role for an NGO contact and planning survey to establish our “La Cadena” network of partners that will potentially span most of Guatemala.
Why not continue to refine your professional capacities with an efficient and growing NGO (non-profit) where your skills can be put to best use? We are looking for someone with flexibility; a can-do attitude; impeccable work ethic, and a passion for youth education and empowerment, social justice and human rights.
Requirements:
A minimum commitment of approximately 20 hours per week (full-time preferred) for a minimum of three months, note this is an unpaid opportunity.
Some hours may be worked independently outside of the office but candidates willing to use their own laptop computers would be most welcome. (We maintain an office in
Panajachel with an Internet connection and laptop for your use.)
Ideal ~ advanced Spanish, with survey or partnership/networking or other NGO experience.
We will fine-tune a work plan with you based on the accomplishment of mutually agreed goals that will provide a wonderful opportunity to interact professionally with a variety of international collaborators.
We are very committed to giving interns the opportunity to contribute in significant, visible ways and to adding value to learn and grow professionally. The work will provide a solid opportunity for growth and experience in NGO and at-risk youth program development, partnership development and engagement, along with project planning and execution etc. We offer a supportive environment and a great learning internship opportunity for the right candidate.
We look forward to receiving a complete CV (or resume) in English and a letter of interest, including your motivation for applying in both English and Spanish. ArlaineC@ninosdellago.org
