Celebrate Your Child
Especially, when a second child arrives in the family, seldom do parents need more gifts of food and toys for the new baby. Karin and Jan Willem of the Netherlands decided to ask their family and friends to write checks and to make cash donations, intended for Niños del Lago in Guatemala instead of buying more things for their new daughter Floor. The response from their friends was a great success. Now, Floor will always know that her parents and their friends celebrated her birth by helping severely-disadvantaged children nearly half way around the world. Why not consider taking this option to celebrate the birth of your child?
When a donation is submitted to Niños del Lago in honor of the birth of your baby, your child will receive a lovely, framed certificate which might be displayed in their room for years and years to come. Your child will always know that their arrival was celebrated by many who shared in their parent's joy by giving to some of our world's most impoverished children.

"When we were expecting Floor, a lot of people asked if we had special wishes concerning presents. When we thought of all the things we already had, like clothes, toys and stuffed animals etc, we knew we didn't need any more of these well-meant gifts. That's how the idea came about to ask for a donation for Niños del Lago. We enclosed with the birth-announcement a letter about Niños del Lago and that we wanted to celebrate Floor's life with a gift for the children in Guatemala. We had a lot of positive reactions and were able to raise 460 dollars! A child for a child!
